Structural steel is a material used in construction. It is formed in specific shapes, sizes, and lengths.

Most commonly Universal Beams (UB’s ) sometimes referred to as IBeam, Universal Column (UC’s) sometimes referred to as HBeam, and Parallel Flange Channels (PFC’s) sometimes referred to as C channels

Universal Beams (UB’s)

A universal beam has an ‘I’ cross section with its main application in the structural frames of sheds and large buildings. It is also used in applications where significant weight needs to be carried eg semi-trailer chassis or where large spans need to be achieved as in bridges.

UB’s range in size from 150UB14 – 610UB125

Universal Columns (UC’s)

Universal Columns, as with Beams and Channels, are mainly used in structural applications. As with beams, the cross section of the product has an ‘I’ shape.

Parallel Flange Channel(PFC) Steel

Channels are often called ‘C’ or ‘PFC’ sections. As with beams, channels are mainly used in structural applications. Common uses are house floor joists, semi-trailer rails and industrial stair frames to name a few.

PFC’s range in size from 150 x 75 – 380 x 100 **other lighter PFC’s include 75x 40, 100x 50, 125x 65

UB’s, UC’s and PFC’s are usually available in lengths starting at 9000mm increments of 1500mm to 18000mm
